Save changes before closing?
For you oh the insane ones, who are rising
from their seats to applaud to Michael Nyman; for you, oh the tender
ones, who think that "ba-ba-ba-lu-ba" is just a kind of white noise;
for you, oh red-eyed ones, who are making love to the computers, leaving
a wet kiss on the monitor... Anton Batagov composes his music for
you.
Batagov does not need to be introduced to
anyone who is interested in contemporary music. They call him "a composer
of XXI century", a postminimalist, "an alternative genius". Well,
he is. He writes music for TV, he composes soundtracks, he is an excellent
musician, he is... he is Anton Batagov. Brian Eno wrote to him after
listening to his CD (where Batagov plays Ravel): "Your recording is
special: I find it direct, moving and completely fascinating. I don't
hear it as 'classical music' - just as music. I don't hear someone
showing off how clever they can be, but instead someone inside the
music, an explorer discovering intricate new feelings. It makes me
realize I've never really 'heard' Ravel before".
But all those words are almost useless when
you talk about Batagov as a composer. There is nothing to say. He
does not leave words to us. Just the sound - obtrusive and clear.
Save changes before closing, feel some agitation before listening
to Batagov, think twice before turning your CD-player off. Anton Batagov
is going to make changes in your heart. Yes / No / Cancel
